The Weekend Slow Iced Brew
S
ome mornings call for something chilled, calm, and quietly refreshing.
The Weekend Slow Iced Brew is a soft, meditative ritual — a way to stretch time while creating a cup that cools as slowly as the morning unfolds.
What You’ll Need
- 24g freshly ground Slow Sip Co. coffee
- 250g hot water at 200°F
- 150g ice (in the carafe)
- Pour‑over dripper
- Scale
- Timer
- A slow, open morning
The Ritual
1. Prepare your iced carafe
Add 150g of ice to your carafe. This chills the brew instantly and preserves sweetness.
2. Add your grounds
Add 24g of medium‑coarse coffee. Level the bed gently and evenly.
3. The long bloom (0:00–0:45)
Pour 50g of hot water and let the coffee rise, breathe, and open.
This longer bloom deepens sweetness and softens acidity.
4. The slow pour (0:45–2:30)
Pour the remaining 200g of hot water in slow spirals.
The coffee will drip directly over the ice, locking in aromatics and creating a clean, bright iced cup.
5. Melt & settle (2:30–4:00)
Let the brew finish drawing down. The ice will melt just enough to balance the cup.
6. Swirl & pour
Swirl gently to combine the melted ice and fresh brew. Pour over fresh ice for a chilled, slow‑morning experience.
Sensory Notes
Aroma: citrus, honey, soft florals
Texture: crisp, smooth, refreshing
Mood: like a cool breeze through an open window
Slow‑Living Tip
While the bloom rises, rest your hand on the warm kettle and take a long, steady breath.
Let the contrast — warm kettle, cool morning air — remind you that slow moments can hold both energy and calm.
